Olaf J. Rustad M.D., Board Certified Dermatologist

Dr. O.J. Rustad received his college education at St. Olaf College. He attended Medical School at the University of Minnesota, finishing his medical degree in 1985 and his Dermatology training and Board Certification in 1989.

He was selected for an additional year of surgical experience, becoming the very first Dermatology Surgical Fellow at the University of Minnesota in 1990.

He founded Advanced Dermatology Care (ADC) in 1993. Dr. O.J. Rustad has written several articles published in medical journals, been a guest discussing dermatological conditions on both television and radio, and has lectured to practicing physicians.

He has helped educate dermatology, family practice, and internal medicine resident physicians and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota. He has frequently been named one of the Mpls. /St. Paul Magazine’s Top Docs in Dermatology.

Dr. Rustad has performed well over 7,600+ Mohs surgeries, including their necessary reconstructions. He and his staff enjoy providing this service for our patients as well as for the patients of other referring health care providers, and believe this is a great asset to our community from our practice.

Ruth Rustad M.D., Internal Medicine Physician – Specializing in Dermatology

RuthRustadDr. Ruth Rustad is the Medical Director of Advanced Esthetics Med Spa (AEMS), ADC’s Cosmetic Services division,
and also practices Primary Care Dermatology at ADC.

She completed her undergraduate degrees at the College of St. Catherine. She attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical school, completed her Internal Medicine residency at Abbott Northwestern hospital, and was Board Certified in Internal Medicine from 1998-2008.

After previously practicing at St. Paul Internists, PA., she completed a three-year dermatology preceptorship, and now practices Primary Care Dermatology at ADC, presenting a general medical approach to dermatology problems. Her approach in medical esthetics incorporates a great understanding of the medical dermatologic factors involved in cosmetic dermatology, and includes thorough, comprehensive training of the entire AEMS Cosmetic Care Specialists in order to provide trusted, evidence-based, proven and effective cosmetic dermatology services to improve the health and appearance of the skin.

Her medical dermatology special interests are in acne, rosacea, and sun-damaged skin and skin cancers, especially in treating, prevention and correction of the skin health factors that lead to these problems. Her cosmetic dermatology special interests are Botox, and replacing aging’s lost volume with carefully selected dermal filler placements, regaining one’s natural youthful look.

Outside of work, Dr. Ruth together with her husband, Dr. O.J. Rustad, enjoy their three children, as well as gardening and reading.

 

Physician Assistants – Specializing in Dermatology

Physician Assistants (PAs) are healthcare providers licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. They perform physical examinations and take patient histories, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret laboratory tests, assist and/or perform in surgery, provide patient education and counseling, and write prescriptions. PAs are qualified by graduation from an accredited physician associate educational program and certified by the National Commission on Certification of PAs. PAs work in all areas of medicine from family medicine to surgical sub-specialties, and are a valued member of the ADC team.

 

Alaysia Freetly, PA-C, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Psychology from North Dakota State University. While there, she also competed for the university’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams, serving as a captain her final two years. She then started a gap year educational program at a dermatology clinic in Colorado, where she gained valuable knowledge and dermatological experience. Alaysia then attended St. Catherine University in St. Paul to complete her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. Alaysia looks forward to developing relationships, and providing a supportive environment for her patients at Advanced Dermatology Care. She has a passion for dermatology, and a commitment to enhancing patients’ well-being, knowledge, and confidence.
In her free time, Alaysia enjoys traveling with her fiancé, skiing, hiking with their dog, and running.

 

Allison Kaper, PA-C, received her Bachelor’s of Science from Bethel University in Biokinetics, minoring in Biology and Psychology. She continued on at Bethel University to complete her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies. She joins Advanced Dermatology Care with previous experience in primary care, general surgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. Allison is passionate about providing compassionate care and educating and equipping patients to be confident with their own healthcare decisions. She loves helping patients feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.

Outside of work, Allison enjoys traveling, playing ALL sports, reading, spending time with family and friends, and exploring the Minneapolis food scene.

 

 

 

 

Vanessa Seiberlich, PA-C, received her Bachelor’s of Science degree from University of St. Thomas in Biology. She then started a gap year educational program at a dermatology clinic, where she gained dermatological experience and knowledge as a medical assistant for 2.5 years. Vanessa then attended The College of St. Scholastica for her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies.

Vanessa looks forward to building a comfortable and trusting environment for her patients at Advanced Dermatology Care. She is passionate about providing education to patients, allowing them to help guide their own individualized treatment plans. She is compassionate about helping her patients gain confidence in their own skin.

In her free time, Vanessa enjoys spending time cooking, baking, trying new restaurants, traveling, and spending time outside, all with family and friends.

Katharine Walker, PA-C, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Bethel University. She continued her education at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, where she completed her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. Kate joins Advanced Dermatology Care with 19 years of previous experience in internal medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine. She looks forward to providing superior dermatology care by developing lasting patient-provider relationships through quality communication and compassionate patient care.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time attending a variety of sports, drama and musical activities with her husband and three sons. She also adores the incredible beauty of the outdoors, the comfort of a good book by the fireplace and time spent with her dog, Sky.
